A Community and Regional Resource

It's All About "Where To Go"

The Lake Erie Seaway Trail Center (LESTC) provides a valuable resource for serving travelers and enhancing their knowledge and understanding of the western Seaway Trail corridor in New York.

Travelers are provided information and resources on important historical, cultural, environmental, scenic, and recreational opportunities in the immediate Hamburg area, as well as the wealth of tourist and recreational opportunities in Erie, Niagara, and Chautauqua counties.

The LESTC preserves a locally important historic resource and has revitalized this previously neglected waterfront site.  Local residents and visitors benefit from the availability of tourist information, passive recreation opportunities, and public access to the shoreline of Lake Erie. The site has been improved for scenic viewing opportunities, stairway access to the beach below the Center has been installed, and observation platforms and modest picnicking areas have been established.

The LESTC provides excellent views of the lake, the City of Buffalo, the Lackawanna SteelWinds wind energy turbines, and the Canadian shoreline.  From the outdoor observation decks, the beach, or from inside in the Sunset Cottage Room, there are spectacular Lake Erie sunsets to behold!

Lake Erie Seaway Trail Center provides:

    • Travel and routing information

  • A wide range and variety of information on tourist attractions throughout the region

  • Information about the Seaway Trail and the value of this trail as a National Scenic Byway and recreational resource

  • Exhibition space on local history, culture, and "where to go" to places of interest

  • A relaxing and scenic rest spot from travel activity
